๐Ÿ“ˆ Augustโ€™s Market Data

5 of the Best, 5 of the Worst

Each month we gather sales data from classic car sellers across the globe, and turn it into a bite-sized email for your consumption.

With every update weโ€™ll give you a snapshot: five of the best performers, and five of the worst.

Letโ€™s check out this monthโ€™s data.

5 of the Best

Aston Martin Vanquish S (1st Gen)

๐Ÿ“ˆ 1 year: 7.8% 5 year: 1.4%

The first-generation Vanquish S is finding favor among investors, likely due to its bespoke craftsmanship and the allure of the Aston Martin name. Keep your eyes on it If you're into British luxury coupled with robust V12 performance.

Chevrolet Chevy II / Nova SS (2nd Gen)

 ๐Ÿ“ˆ 1 year: 12.0% 5 year: 1.8%

A quintessential piece of American muscle, the Chevy II Nova in its SS trim is drawing eyes and wallets alike. Its classic lines and heritage have proven to be evergreen.

TVR M Series

๐Ÿ“ˆ 1 year: 10.3% 5 year: 3.9%

A British underdog in the sports car world, the TVR M Series is quietly making a name for itself. Its unique design and raw power have made it an unexpected star among investors.

Porsche Cayenne (1st Gen)

๐Ÿ“ˆ 1 year: 8.8% 5 year: 0.3%

It was quite a departure from the German manufacturerโ€™s traditional sports car lineup, but the nostalgia of Porscheโ€™s first venture into the SUV market is driving up its desirability and, consequently, its value.

Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4-SV

๐Ÿ“ˆ 1 year: 8.5% 5 year: 0.1%

The Aventador has always been a showstopper, but the LP750-4-SV version has shown remarkable resilience in the market recently. Its extravagant looks and blistering speed have put it in a promising position.

5 of the Worst

Dodge Coronet RT (5th Gen)

๐Ÿ“‰ 1 year: -5.2% 5 year: -1.5%

Once a jewel in Dodge's crown, this model has sadly lost its luster. The Coronet's lack of market appeal compared to some of its muscle car competitors has resulted in dwindling interest.

Bentley Continental GTC (1st Gen)

๐Ÿ“‰ 1 year: -5.7% 5 year: -0.7%

Known for its elegance and formidable performance, the first-gen Bentley Continental GTC seems to be facing a chilly market reception at the moment. Despite its luxurious features and brand cachet, itโ€™s not immune to market downturns.

Buick Super (2nd Gen)

๐Ÿ“‰ 1 year: -4.8% 5 year: -1.8%

Known for its opulence in its heyday, the Buick Super has not aged gracefully in the eyes of collectors, suffering from declining demand and value.

Nissan Skyline R32

๐Ÿ“‰ 1 year: -14.9% 5 year: -4.8%

While all Skyline generations continue to enjoy a cult following, the R32 has been left in the rearview mirror recently, experiencing a slight decline (particularly the non GTR models).

Chevrolet Corvette C3 LT1

๐Ÿ“‰ 1 year: -8.1% 5 year: -0.8%

Despite its iconic status, the C3 generation of the Corvette, especially the LT1 variant, has seen a downturn in the last year.

๐Ÿ” Focus: Will the Jaguar S-Type be a Future Classic?

When the S-Type was unveiled in 1998, critics were torn; was it a nod to the past or a glimpse of the future? In a world chasing aerodynamic curves and futuristic interfaces, the S-Type wore its retro inspirations unabashedly.

In a sea of cars racing to the future, the S-Type dared to look back. But is that enough to bring it into the world of classic cars?

๐Ÿ“– Focus: Understanding the True Costs of Classic Car Ownership

Classic cars are the dreamy remnants of eras gone by, evoking passion and nostalgia in equal measure.

But letโ€™s not kid ourselves. Owning one isnโ€™t just about handing over a hefty sum in exchange for a set of keys.

Oh no, thatโ€™s just the tip of the iceberg. All too often the thrill of the purchase is quickly overshadowed by the realization of ongoing expenses.

๐ŸŽฒ Bold Bets: Audi A2

In this section we look at cars that can be considered โ€˜Bold Betsโ€™ for investment purposes.

This month we're turning our attention to a car that some of our American readers may never have even heard of: the Audi A2.

Picture this: a shiny new millennium, Y2K fears fading away, and Audi drops thisโ€ฆ vehicle. Eyes squinted. Critics whispered. It wasnโ€™t the sleek and growling beast that people traditionally fawned over.

No, the A2 was different โ€“ a touch avant-garde, a sprinkle of futuristic, and a dash of โ€œwhat were they thinking?โ€

Was it the misunderstood prodigy of its era or just another ambitious flop?
